Danielle and her extended family inquired about a session since the autumn leaves were falling last year and planned to book when the spring was in full bloom.  When spring had arrived, they reached out saying they had some exciting news and a new little one would be joining their large family in the summer and changed their booking date for what we imagined to be a lovely not too hot, but not too cold September day. 

As the session day drew near, we had gorgeous sunny days the entire week, experiencing a bit of a drought, and were beginning to expect sunshine and little to no rain.  

We imagine you know where the story is going!  We all wake up to RAIN.  ...and we don't mean just a drizzle, but a full-on gloomy, rainy day. The forecast showed an eighty percent chance of rain at the time of the session. Moving the time was out of the question as we were working around nap time for four of the little ones and traveling for three. This sweet family had this session in the works for 10 months.

Do we or don't we go ahead with the session?

The family came up with a backup plan to go to their church's fellowship hall, but deep down we wanted to give them the session they have been picturing with the summer green leaves on the trees draped behind them. 

We headed to a location where the trees served as an umbrella to the rain and a shelter close by would allow family members to stand cover as we moved them in and out of images. We told the family to meet us there and as we told them our plan they said, "Let's do!"

This family was SO fun to work with they did not mind the occasional pitter-patter on their heads.  We got some genuine smiles from the little ones as they played in the rain and scouted the newly dropped acorns on the ground.  The adults, we think, just enjoyed being together and we are glad we didn't let the rain keep us from saying, "Let's Don't!"
